Department of Micro Biology

 

Department of Microbiology was established for UG in the year 2005 and PG in the Year 2009. We provide a centre of expertise for numerous aspects of microbial biology. It is a matter of pride for the Department that every session students of post-graduation secured to the position in University Merit list.

Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, which are unicellular or cell-cluster microscopic organisms. This includes eukaryotes such as fungi and protists and prokaryotes such as bacteria and certain algae. Viruses are also included. Microbiology subdivided into divisions including bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology and others. A scientist who specializes in the area of microbiology is called a microbiologist. Microbiology can be divided into several subdisciplines, including:

 

 

Microbiologists study microorganisms, including viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa. They study many important practical problems in medicine, agriculture and industry, looking at how microorganisms affect us and how we can exploit them. Microorganisms affect every aspect of life on earth and, consequently, microbiologists work in a wide variety of settings, although the majority of work is laboratory-based.
